Dual education system

Innovation course industry 4.0 in accordance with the development of the economy of Kazakhstan requires the improvement of the training of technical and professional personnel. Therefore, at the present time an important place is given to the system of dual education.

The dual education system is an education system providing for a combination of education in an educational institution with periods of production activity.

This system involves the preparation of a specialist in two directions simultaneously – theoretical and practical. 1/3 of the time of study, he receives basic knowledge in college, and 2/3 – develops skills and obtains practically significant knowledge in the workplace – enterprise.

The main goal of the system of dual education is to prepare a qualified graduate who has developed basic skills in the workplace.

In the Almaty State Polytechnic College, the dual system of education was introduced from the 2016-2017 academic year.

The admission was carried out in the specialty 1304000 “Computing engineering and software”, qualification 1304012 “Operator of electronic computers” consisting of 25 people.

At the moment, one group OEC3 in the amount of 22 people, 19 of them are boys and 3 girls, are enrolled in the dual education system.

The working curriculum of dual education was developed in accordance with the requirements of the State Compulsory Standard for Technical and Vocational Education, approved by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 1080 from August 23, 2012, the model curriculum approved by order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 72 of January 22, 2016 as well as the Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 21, 2016, No. 50 “On approval of the rules for the organization of dual education”.

Working curricula for dual education differ from standard curricula in that up to 50% of the training time allocated for mastering educational material has been modified, up to 50% for each discipline and up to 80% of vocational training and professional practice with preservation of the total number hours of compulsory education.

Calculating hours according to the standard curriculum for compulsory education:

4320 hours are planned, of which 1,728 hours are devoted to production and professional practice.

Taking into account the requirements of dual training, where theoretical training in college is 40% and not less than 60% of industrial training and practice on the basis of the organization (enterprise), the following calculation was made:

– General education disciplines -1044 hours;

– Humanitarian disciplines – 225 hours;

-Specialized disciplines -141 hours;

-Special disciplines-310 hours;

-Discipline Ltd. (Office equipment of the new generation-12 hours, Innovative information technology -12 hours) – a total of 24 hours;

– Industrial training and professional practice – 2506 hours;

– Intermediate certification – two weeks;

– Final certification is two weeks.

The dual education system contract is a written agreement between the student, the organization that provides the workplace for on-the-job training and practice, and the institution that regulates the conditions and procedure for passing the practice.

In the 2016-2017 academic year, the group on dual eduation system twice held an internship in the 1st semester -7 weeks and in the 2nd semester -6 weeks.

In the 2017-2018 academic year, the group held twice professional practice – in the 1st semester -6 weeks and in the 2nd semester -17 weeks.

For the 2018-2019 academic year, 2 professional practices are planned, in the 1 semester – 17 weeks and in the 2 semester – 11 weeks, as well as a pre-diploma practice in the amount of -5 weeks.

Every year, for the timely completion of professional practice, tripartite agreements are concluded with organizations that provide the student with a practice base and a workplace for industrial training in accordance with the dual educational program and provide adequate working conditions so that the student masters the educational program in order to gain key and professional competencies that allow qualified perform production, labor functions and tasks.
